Clear Quartz

Our first crystal blog features the 2nd most common and abundant mineral found on every continent on Earth.  Clear Quartz is also known as Rock Crystal and Quartz Crystal.  The word “Quartz” comes from the Greek word “krustallos” which means “ice”.  Clear Quartz occurs naturally as a hexagonal (6 sided) crystal with terminated ends or as clusters resembling needle looking points. Other shapes that we will discuss at another time include generators, cathedrals, time links and record keepers to name a few.  Don’t let the simplicity and clarity of this crystal fool you.  This “silicon dioxide”  with a hardness of 7 is considered the master healer, cleanser, energizer and programmer.  Clear Quartz can be our own personal computer because of its ability to store information.  We can “program” this crystal by our intentions and thoughts. Clear Quartz can cleanse all other rocks and minerals simply by our placing it in the company of other stones.

Quartz is piezoelectric and pyroelectric.
